The 2025 Gamecock Invite kicked off last night in Columbia. This is a fairly full invite, as there are 9 women’s team and 6 men’s teams competing. The opening night of the meet adopted the new NCAA championships format, having the 1650 free on the first day. The 800 free relay was also included last night.

Starting off with the mile, South Carolina’s Nora Fluck won the women’s 1650, clocking a 16:23.74. That was a solid performance out of the sophomore, who holds a career best of 16:06.89. She was a bit faster at last year’s Gamecock Invite, however, where she swam a 16:18.39. North Carolina’s Lily Reader was close behind, taking 2nd in 16:26.80. Reader was about 7 seconds off her career best of 16:19.74, which she swam at last season’s ACC Championships. On the NAIA side of things, SCAD’s Sky Marjamaa led the way with a 17:45.10.

In the men’s mile, South Carolina’s Connor Fry was excellent, winning the race in 14:53.97. Fry was within 10 seconds of his career best of 14:46.89, which he swam at a last chance meet last season. He was also just off the time he went at last year’s Gamecock Invite, 14:52.97. SCAD’s Abel Eszenyi was the leading NAIA swimmer, clocking a 15:57.17 last night.

Shifting to the relays, South Carolina won the women’s 800 free relay with a 7:08.88. Jordan Angliano (1:47.99), Ellery Ottem (1:47.64), Breckin Gormley (1:45.78), and Nora Fluck (1:47.47) combined to get the job done. Of note, South Carolina’s ‘B’ relay went 7:10.95, which was helped greatly by Amy Riordan‘s 1:45.99 on the 2nd leg. Meghan Harnish was also 1:47.75 on the lead-off for the ‘B’, which was a touch faster than Angliano led off on the ‘A’. With their fastest combination, South Carolina would have been about 2 seconds faster.

North Carolina’s Maren Conze had the fastest split in the event, clocking in with a 1:45.75 on the 2nd leg of the Tar Heels’ ‘A’ relay.

North Carolina earned the win in the men’s 800 free relay, seeing Louis Dramm (1:33.96), Seb Lunak (1:34.90), David Quaresma (1:33.22), and Julian Swiderski (1:35.74) team up for a 6:17.82.
