ST. GEORGE, Utah – San Diego State swimmers maintained their lofty perch in the team standings at the Trailblazer Invitational after completing another six events on Friday at Utah Tech’s Human Performance Center Pool.
Through 12 overall events, the Aztecs lead the eight-team field with 605 points, while UC San Diego remains in second with 548.50 points, followed by Fresno State (489 pts), UC Davis (370 pts), California Baptist (137 pts), Utah Tech (134 pts), San Diego (122 pts) and Pacific (61.5 pts).
SDSU claimed three event titles while recording 10 additional top-eight finishes to highlight another successful day.
The Aztecs advanced three swimmers to the “A” finals of the 100 backstroke, where Abby Storm posted a winning time of 52.16, while Liv Peebles finished second with a career-fast clocking of 53.86, which ranks seventh on the program’s all-time list. In addition, Alex Downing placed sixth in the race after logging a personal-best effort of 54.81.
Kaydence Bispo also emerged victorious in the 200 freestyle with a career-fast time of 1:47.49, which ranks eighth in school history, while Alli Mann completed a season-best swim of 1:48.23 to finish second.
Not to be outdone, SDSU’s top 400 medley relay team took home the proverbial gold medal, as the quartet of Storm, Moa Bergdahl, Mann and Alyssa Schiller combined for a triumphant time of 3:34.20, which ranks fourth on the program’s all-time charts. Highlighting the victory was Storm’s 100 backstroke split of 52.03, which marks a personal best and ranks second in school history.
Additionally, the Aztecs’ “B” team of Peebles, Roni Black, Emily Tenczar and Bispo finished fourth in the event with a clocking of 3:40.96.
Mann placed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.36, while Peebles was slotted seventh after posting a career-fast clocking of 55:01. Earlier in the morning preliminaries, Mann recorded a collegiate-best sprint of 53.28, which ranks sixth on SDSU’s all-time performance list.
In the 100 breaststroke, Bergdahl touched the wall in second place with a career-fast time of 59.53, which ranks third in school history, while Black placed sixth with a season-best effort of 1:02.07.
Elsewhere, Reka Nyiradi finished second in the 400 individual medley after completing the race at 4:18.13, while Elisa Branca took seven with a career-fast swim of 4:23.87. In addition, Amber Janky captured the “B” final of the event with a collegiate-best clocking of 4:19.04, which ranks 10th on the Aztecs’ all-time charts.

ST. GEORGE, Utah – UC San Diego stayed steady and strong in day three of competition at the Trailblazer Invite. Out of six finals events, the women earned three first place finishes and the men earned four.
The Tritons earned a total of 847 points on the men’s side standing in first place after three days of competition. Finishing in second, behind San Diego State who has 605 points so far, Triton women earned 548.5 outcompeting six other teams after three days of competition.
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
Eva Boehlke continued to dominate her events, placing first in the 100 Yard Butterfly (53.30). Madison O’Connell finished fourth (54.74), Edana Huang eighth (55.14), and Jasmine Phuong tied for ninth (54.89), rounding out the top ten placements for event 13. In the 400 IM Asia Kozan placed first (4:16.11) and Sydney Niles third (4:18.15). Huang placed fifth (1:51.17), Audrey Moore placed seventh (1:51.65), and Sophia Bell placed tenth (1:51.09) for the Tritons in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Chloe Braun placed third in the 100 Breaststroke (59.85), with Hayley Gregory placing seventh (1:02.42). Boehlke clinched third place finish in the 100 Backstroke (53.95); Addison Everage followed her in fourth (54.64).
In the 400 Medley Relay UCSD A, consisting of Everage, Braun, Boehlke, and Kozan, placed second (3:36.64). UCSD B, Danielle Greenwood, Clemence Choy, Huang, and Phuong, finished the relay in seventh with a time of (3:44.11).
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
To start day three finals Hunter Cehelnik clinched first in the 100 Butterfly (46.40), which the Tritons as a team dominated in. Zach Elian (47.87), Jacob Cairns (48.60), Kyle Kengla (48.91), Adrian Bellido (49.76), and Jacob Wang (50.11) all earned top ten finishes. In the 400 IM Zach Tower placed fourth (4:03.08). Six Tritons placed in the top ten of the 200 Freestyle, with Aidan Rikic winning the event (1:38.18). Luigi Franco (1:38.41), William Miller (1:39.01), Landon Egeland (1:39.47), Charlie Franz (1:40.68), and Lucas Brunett (1:41.21) placed second, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh, respectively. In the100 Breaststroke Bekzhan Yessengeldy placed second (54.09). Following him, Trent Hollandsworth finished seventh (56.06) and Adrian Belldio finished eighth (54.56). Five Tritons clinched top ten spots in the 100 Backstroke. William Seymour won the event (47.41) setting a program record. Franco placed fifth (48.66); Jack O’Shaughnessy sixth (48.79); Shane Burns placed ninth (49.54), and Robby Griswold rounded the top ten out (50.95).
In the 400 Medley Relay UCSD A, consisting of Seymour, Yessengeldy, Cehelnik, and Elian placed first (3:11.10), setting another program record for the Tritons. UCSD B, O’Shaughnessy, Hollandsworth, Cairns, and Wang, placed third with a time of 3:16.97.

Tritons will continue competition at the Trailblazer Invite Saturday, Nov. 22nd for the last day of the meet. The morning session is set to begin at 9 a.m. PT and the evening session at 4 p.m. PT.
