2025 HUNGARIAN SC CHAMPIONSHIPS

While day one of the 2025 Hungarian Short Course Championships brought about multiple age records, day two gave us our first senior national record to bite the dust.

Racing in the final of the women’s 50m freestyle, 31-year-old Petra Senanszky ripped a new Hungarian senior record of 24.11 en route to winning the event.

After clocking a time of 24.77 to lead the morning heats, Senanszky hacked .66 off to turn in the best time of her career.

Entering this competition, Senanszky’s lifetime best rested at the 24.30 she notched at the 2021 edition of these championshps.

Flash forward to tonight, however, and the veteran cleared that former PB by .19 to get the gold.

Lori Fanni Komoroczy checked in with 24.57 for the silver while Panna Ugrai rounded out the podium in 24.78 as the only other sub-25-second performer of the field.

Senanszky now ranks 11th in the world on the season, tying Kiwi swimmer Chelsey Edwards.

On her performance this evening, Senanszky told the Hungarian Swimming Federation, “I felt like I was in good shape on Wednesday, because I swam a really, really good time in our mixed freestyle relay. I tried to take that further today and push myself in the 50, I’m happy I did it.”
